A Prospective Scene in the City of Oaks, 4th of March 1869

Pro-Klan Propaganda

This cartoon depicts a donkey, referencing the Democratic party, leaving the scene
after hanging two occupying carpet-baggers, with “KKK” inscribed on the side of the
donkey. This cartoon is implying that the KKK will hang the occupiers on the day of,
the now former, President Ulysses S.Grants’ inauguration, hence the date.
